Meet Our Founder
Harold McReynolds is a native of Birmingham, Alabama where he attended Holy Family Catholic Elementary and High School. Along with excelling in the classroom, McReynolds was an All-American athlete in both basketball and track and field, competed in college basketball from 1978 until 1982 at McNeese University in Lake Charles, LA. He was also a member of the National Honor Society and Who’s Who Among American High School Students.
At an early age, Israel McReynolds Sr., Harold’s father, taught his son the importance of youth development. He recalls his time as a youth when his father would welcome troubled teenagers to their home for years or months at a time. These teenagers would become their extended family.
The passion that Israel McReynolds exhibited for youth is the passion that Harold McReynolds holds dear today. With the passing of Israel McReynolds Sr. in 1991, Harold created the Israel McReynolds’ Scholarship Fund in his father’s memory in 1998. This is the main focus of the Tournament of Stars, Inc. and is the driving force of the organization’s success. To date, the Tournament of the Stars pro-am tourney has benefited over 40 high school seniors with more than $50,000 in scholarship money. The Tournament of the Stars is not an athletic scholarship and it is not gender specific. TheIsrael McReynolds’ Scholarship Fund allows students to pursue higher education at the college/university of their choice.
The father of two girls and an active participant in his community, McReynolds faithfully attends Christian Baptist Church, a board member of the Boys and Girls Club of America and a volunteer coach for a group of teenage boys. He is currently a Safety Manager at Jacobs Engineering in Houston, TX.
